Root vegetables

Parsley

For centuries, it has been one of the indispensable vegetables of Hungarian cuisine traditionally used. Its nutritional value is not significant, its true significance lies in its seasoning ability. Its foliage and root are both used as to season soups, pottages, sauces, stews.

Carrot

It is one of our oldest crops, an everyday ingredient of our dishes. It has delicious taste and can be used in various forms. Folk medicine has recommended it for centuries for liver, bile, eye and skin problems. Its most valuable biological active ingredient is beta-carotene, from which the carrot gets its yellow color.

Tuberous vegetables

Celery

Excellent herb and spice. Three versions have spread throughout the world, but in our country the tubular version is produced. Its leaves and tuber give the scented, aromatic, sweet-smelling spice. It is a great neural-tissue strengthener, but what makes it popular is its flavor. It can be used for raw salads, but also for seasoning other dishes.

Kohlrabi

Although this brassica represents fresh spring flavor for us at the end of March and early April, it is available as a leafy primrose from February to September, and in winter it is stored in tubular form. It is an excellent and valuable herb plant, but modern cuisine uses it in increasingly more forms. It is extremely healthy when eaten raw.

Squash

Cucurbits are now advancing in the ranking of vegetables, modern kitchen prefers to use the ever-diversified form of pumpkins. Its content is lower than that of other vegetables, the main value being the excellent dietary fiber content and the biologically pure water content.

Pumpkin

It has been produced in Hungary for a long time, initially between corn fields, nowadays as an independent plantation. It can be well preserved, and if stung by frost, it will be particularly sweet and mellow. It is considered a favorite treat throughout the winter, but since it is rich in carotenoids, its nutritional and physiological effect is also significant.

Paprika

White paprika

Nonpungency developed accidentally, but the breeders carefully preserved this deficiency, so the vast majority of peppers currently grown are not pungent. In Hungary, we cultivate almost only Hungarian breeding varieties, which are considered true Hungaricums. It is suitable for both fresh and canned food processing.

Kapia paprika

A slightly flattened, dark red paprika. Its flesh is hard, high in sugar content, with intense flavor. Its special value is the storage capacity. Its quality is unchanged for weeks in a fully matured condition and stored without damage.
